Fellowship One Contributions© check scanning application is designed to quickly enter contribution information into Fellowship One. It consists of a program that runs on a desktop computer (PC) and a check scanning machine that may look like the machine in the image below.
Tip! The Contributions application will not activate unless something is scanned first. Typically, a check is scanned, however you can scan other things such as a contributions envelope or a handwritten note.
As checks are scanned, the scanner reads the account, routing, and check numbers located at the bottom of the check. This technology is knows as Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR). the numbers at the bottom of the check are sometimes referred to as the MICR (pronounced micker) number.
Fellowship One takes the account/routing information and searches the church database for a matching household. If a household is found, it displays along with an image of the check in the Contributions workspace. Once scanned, a contribution can be attributed to any of the following:
