Groups

Groups1) Any collection of individuals. 2) A group of individuals that meet on a semi-regular basis for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship. are essentially any collection of individuals. One group may be people you contact frequently, while another group may be a volunteer team for a particular service. The purpose of groups is to help you find sets of people in order to view, manage and communicate with them quickly and easily.

There are three fundamental types of groups—Groups, People Lists and Temporary Groups. And then there are Spans of Carewhich are specific views of groups set up and defined by groups data (i.e. group types, custom fields).

Groups1) Any collection of individuals. 2) A group of individuals that meet on a semi-regular basis for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship. - Groups are a collection of individuals that have come together (or been placed together) for a common goal or interest. Groups are created in Fellowship One and are managed through InFellowship where group leaders and members alike can see the group and its members.

People ListA system-defined group type that contains groups of frequently contacted individuals that can be shared with other Fellowship One users. People Lists are typically a generic list or private group that you keep for your own benefit (think of an email address book that is static and is updated manually). Through people lists you can add/delete members, communicate with those on your list via email, and share your lists with others; however, people lists are not public or managed through InFellowship.

Temporary GroupA system-defined group type that contains groups created from the results of a report. Temporary Groups can be used just like any other group; however, they expire after three days and will disappear from your group listing. They are accessed in the Portal under Groups > Groups by Group Type > View All. They do not appear in the Report Library. Temporary Groups are groups generated from reports and expire after three days.

Span of CareA view of groups based on a definition created from group data (such as group type and standard and custom fields). This view enables owners to manage groups that meet the span of care definition. Span of Care is a view based on a definition that you set from group data (group type, custom fields, etc.). This view enables owners to manage groups that meet the span of care definition that you set up in Fellowship One. For instance, if your church has a director or leader that oversees all women's groups, a span of care for this person will give them a view into all women's groups no matter their group type. This director does not have to be listed as a leader in each group in order to oversee it and monitor the group's progress. Span of care allows the director to view only the groups that pertain to his/her ministry under the Spans of Care tab.
