Rejected Volunteers

Volunteer Pipeline
1. Submit an Application
2. Review Applications
3. Ministry Review
4. Verify Requirements
5. Approved Volunteers
6. Rejected Volunteers

If a person has been rejected for a volunteer job, he or she will appear in the Rejected Volunteers queue in the Volunteer Pipeline (People > Volunteer Pipeline > Rejected Volunteers). When a person has been rejected for any requirement, the requirement is added to the individual's detailed record with the status of Not Approved. If the volunteer tries to apply for the a job again, the application is immediately directed to the Rejections queue.

Sometimes, a person may be rejected for reasons that have nothing to do with the volunteer opportunity. For example, a background check may come back as failed (rejected) due to something that has nothing to do with the opportunity he or she is volunteering for. In this case, the rejection decision can be overridden (see edit a rejection below).

To view and handle rejections

  1. Click People > Volunteer Pipeline > Rejected Volunteers. All individuals who have previously been rejected appear in this queue.
  2. Optionally, select a specific volunteer application from the Application drop-down list. This will filter the rejected volunteers list to display only those rejected for the selected application.
  3. Contact the potential volunteer and advise them that they have not met the requirements for the volunteer opportunity. This may be a good chance to direct the volunteer to a different ministry for service opportunities.
  4. Click Submit beside each rejection to complete it.

Once a requirement has been rejected, you can edit it if needed. Remember that when a requirement has been rejected, it is updated in the individual's record and is checked every time the individual applies for a volunteer opportunity.

To edit a rejection

  1. Type a name or partial name in the People Search field and press Enter on your keyboard. A list of search results appears.
  2. Click the person's name to display the individual's record.
  3. Scroll down to the Requirements widget. All requirements the person has fulfilled appear.
  4. Click Edit beside the requirement you want to change. The requirement will have a Not Approved status.
  5. Change the status or any other requirement information as appropriate.
  6. Click Save to save your changes.

Note: If you edit a Not Approved status to Approved, you must resubmit the volunteer application for the person (or have them resubmit) if you want to use the volunteer pipeline.
